Born in the capital of the Theocracy of Taishan, Persinette of the House Ethri was the first sorcerer in her family for many generations. With lustrous blonde hair, her mother made her swear that she would never cut her hair above her knees, and she has kept to that promise her entire nineteen years.

At talking age, she gained her familiar; a green frog, Weber, who is only slightly overweight, sits on her shoulder under her hair. Although he is useless in battle, he provides Persinette much comfort, and has an uncanny ability to share his senses with her.

Once she exited adolescence and blossomed into a young woman, her parents rushed to make a suitable match for their family. This led to Persinette’s arranged betrothal to Brodik of the House Kirmoff, the handsome son of an extremely wealthy merchant family. As House Ethri would enjoy the riches, House Kirmoff would reap the benefits of becoming more linked to the powers within the Church.

Despite the arranged marriage, Brodik was very much in love with Persinette; he loved not only her beauty and delicate naivety, but also her powerful magic forged in her stubborn disposition. Persinette never loved Brodik. Yes, he was handsome, wealthy, and even kind, which is a lucky trait to have in a husband, but he could never stimulate her intellectual needs, and any marriage would leave her locked in a gilded cage. Luckily, someone else held a spare key to this cage.

Kussar Nimra, a shameless social climber in high society, offered Persinette an out on the day of her wedding. Having links across Taishan, he organised a caravan to smuggle Persinette out of the capital and out of the country. He called to her from the bottom of the tower her room was in, helping her grapple her way down. In her wedding dress, she fled, smuggled out of the capital via ship with a trusted crew. Once she reached Candor, she was robbed on the road by bandits, leaving her only with her staff, frog, and ruined dress. Under Kussar’s instruction, she headed towards the Twinspire Festival where she would await his visitation.
