The small town of Blackfish Creek on the southern coast of Alaska is one where nothing happens for many years - and then everything happens at once.

Carlson Tucker

Carlson Tucker, a 67 year-old widower with a face like 40 miles of rough road, has recently been identified as the prime suspect in the murder of Annabelle Johnson, his ex-wife. The paltry sum that Carlson makes from his fishing business (now split with Greta Schmidt) was not enough to cover a lengthy legal battle, and as a result, Amak Tunu, the lawyer, now possesses the deed to Carlson’s old floatplane, Annie.

The Bomb

Embittered against the town of Blackfish Creek, and embarrassed by the loss of his financial security, Carlson made a most fell purchase - two M112 explosive blocks. With the correct equipment, Carlson only needed a partner in this crime, and by providence, one soon came along - Greta Schmidt. Disenfranchised with the town for her own reasons, and keen to inflict as much damage as possible, Greta was the perfect complement to Carlson - and a useful employee on the boat in his advancing years. The plan was to demolish the wall of the courthouse whilst Carlson was on trial, and simultaneously to bring down the town hall.

Assassins

Given Amak Tunu’s position as Carlson’s lawyer, the bomb plot aligned rather conveniently with Greta’s own plans. Along with her second cousin, Friedrich, Greta has made plans to kill Tunu, and steal the 1948 Aeronca Sedan light aeroplane he co-owns with Reverend Elijah Smith.

Outlaws

Amak Tunu is not, however, a man of clean record or integrity. Nor is the Reverend truly a man of god. Together, they have been smuggling uncut diamonds and cocaine through the town for nearly a decade. Using a site on the hill known as Make Out Point, the pair smuggle this contraband in the bellies of fish they have caught. This brings in a tidy sum, though the two are keen to avoid getting caught.

Revelation

Best laid plans… such operations may have gone off without a hitch had Friedrich Schmidt not gotten curious. Following Greta and Carlson to the latter’s boat after a Sunday mass, Friedrich discovered enough about their plan to gain some leverage over the pair. Hence, all things started to become a little more messy.

When the reverend discovered Friedrich shooting cans and drinking some stolen beer after the next week’s service, things escalated rather quickly. Once Carlson became involved, Friedrich’s impatience came to a head; the boy ordered the old man to shoot the Reverend, and it was only through the misfiring of Carlson’s Colt 1851 revolver that no lives were taken that day.
