Kussar Nimra is a half-elf socialite who clawed his way into high society. From childhood, he struggled with his identity, feeling unwelcome by both elves and men, so he looked towards those who were also outcasts for rapport. This did not sate his hunger for belonging and resentment festered in him. Seeing how the elite shunned those lower than them for nothing more than status, Kussar began trading in the most powerful currency in Taishan: secrets.

With a business in blackmailing, Kussar found himself rising amongst the ranks of the Taishan elite, holding secrets that could bring any theocracy to its knees. As he became comfortable with his middling rank, something would shake his entire being. Persinette Ethri, sole child of the House Ethri, was finally introduced to the public sphere having being sheltered until her parents had arranged a betrothal. She was beautiful and had the makings of a powerful sorcerer. Magic and secrets would mesh together stunningly, he thought. This obsession with the girl only grew stronger when had remarked at a member of the court who had insulted Kussar's green tinted skin with such wit and quiet fury. The smile he gave her would live in his mind forever.

Kussar, however, found his dream ruined when it was announced that Persinette was to be married to Brodik Kirmoff, the eldest son of the wealthy merchant House Kirmoff. He plotted, plying Persinette with the odd comment of seeing the world before marriage and that a husband would require her to be nothing more than wed and bred. Overtime she grew more stubborn against the will of her parents, finally coming to her friend Kussar for help.

Secrets bought allies, as well as caravan routes. He planned her escape as such: on the day of her wedding, Kussar would wait at the bottom of her tower for her, assisting her scaling down the brick with rope. Next, he would load her into a barrel and move it under the guise of moving wine for the festivities. The barrel would make its way to the beginning of a long chain of people who would assist in the smuggling of this precious cargo out of Taishan. Before he closed the lid onto the barrel, he smiled down at Persinette with the promise that he would be seeing her very soon. Little did she know, those words were not the kind promise of a friend that she had thought, but the leering and slimy threat of a snake.
