Thunril of Nowhere is a half-elf liberator who was one of the guards hired to protect the Twinspire Arts Festival.
History
Thunril was born to an elven herbalist father and a human labourer mother. He grew up in the Thaldrein tribe and lived a mostly happy life there. Thunril's half-elf nature prevented him from fully fitting in with the tribe, and despite being socially acute, he developed a strong wanderlust. On a hunting mission, Thunril made acquaintance with a local half-elf champion of Thuntarra named Diomamu. To his parents' mild concern, this friendship resulted in Thunril becoming a squire for Diomamu, and the pair travelled the land surrounding the Steelpeak Mountains, ensuring that routes of passage remained free from banditry and snow drifts alike all year-round.
When war with the Khathari Empire came to the land, Thunril’s father, along with the majority of the fighting age members of the tribe felt it was their duty to enlist in the Indurrad army. The army that lost.
Time as a refugee
Upon hearing of the loss, Thunril and Diomamu returned to the tribe to help in any way they could. With the tribe decimated, and severe change coming to their lands, the tribe decided to make the arduous trek towards Candor in the hopes that the region’s lush wildlands and liberal attitude would provide more stable living space for them and the generations to come.
The journey was arduous and fraught with danger, though through the hard work of Diomamu and Thunril, the refugees made the lion’s share of the distance safely. However, when only 60 leagues from Candor’s border, the band of travellers were attacked by a large group of bandits, and Diomamu was slain. Thunril took up his breastplate and helped lead a rout against the bandits, allowing the refugees to make it the rest of the way to safety, though Diomamu’s legacy weighed heavily upon Thunril’s shoulders for the rest of the journey.
Arriving safely in Candor, the Thaldrein tribe made their way to Broadfield, seeking the respite and recreation that the arts festival offered. They made camp in the festival grounds around the outskirts of the town.
Personality
Thunril's strong sense of duty is contrasted by the Thuntarric values he holds dear - he is pious, and holds personal freedoms above almost all else.
